Small Business Week 2021
Small Business Week is a nationally recognized celebration of the contributions small businesses make to our local economies. The Vaughan Small Business and Entrepreneurship team hosts Vaughan Small Business Week every October to provide local entrepreneurs access to the latest programs, best practices and networking opportunities.
Small Business Week 2021 will be taking place virtually. In 2021, this series of events is offered at no cost to entrepreneurs and will be delivered during the week of October 18-22, 2021.
This year’s theme will focus on seizing the opportunity to build the way forward, exploring how to overcome current challenges, identify opportunities for growth and highlighting the local supports available to entrepreneurs and small business owners. Programming is being delivered virtually together with local business support organizations Vaughan Chamber of Commerce, ventureLAB, YSpace/York University, COSTI and York Regional Police.

Join the keynote address from Ron Minken, Sara Kauder, and Tejpreet (Tanya) Sambi of Minken Employment Lawyers. This session will include a fireside chat with Brian Shifman, President & CEO of Vaughan Chamber of Commerce on navigating employment law in the COVID-19 era. Plus, hear a virtual address from Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua.

Crime Prevention for Vaughan Business by York Regional Police

Do you know how to keep your business and workplace safer? This is a 3-part series of workshops led by York Region Police’s Crime Prevention Officer Vince Garisto. The workshops are designed for Vaughan local businesses and entrepreneurs whether with brick and mortar locations or home-based businesses, and will share practical knowledge on how to keep your business and the community safe.
In the first part of this series, you will learn about crime prevention services tailored to Vaughan business, the second session; schedule in November will explore the topic of physical safety and how to protect your premises. Session 3 coming up in December, will focus on designing safety policies and procedures for your business.
