Talent City Vaughan Grant Recipient Profile – Elspeth Heyworth Centre for Women

Talent City Vaughan is a first-of-its-kind municipal workforce development initiative that supports purpose-driven training initiatives across Vaughan. The 2025 cohort of grant recipients offers a host of in-demand training programs for Vaughan residents and employees of Vaughan-based businesses – like Elspeth Heyworth Centre for Women’s Interpreter Training and ILSAT Test Preparation!

The Program

EHCW’s training Program offers bilingual participants 100 hours of hands-on interpreter training, equipping them with the practical skills and professional knowledge needed to succeed in the field and also prepare them for the ILSAT language test. Participants will develop the competencies required to become employable, achieve professional certification, gain confidence in real-world interpretation settings, and be better prepared to serve diverse communities with high standards of professionalism and cultural sensitivity.

Participants will be equipped with the necessary skills, knowledge, and certifications to deliver exceptional interpretation services in Vaughan.

The program supports local workforce development by helping bilingual individuals leverage their existing language skills to become employable and confidently enter the interpretation profession.
