Q. What is the Business Survey?
The Business Survey is a tool used by the City of Vaughan’s Economic Development Department to gather insight into the private sector’s operating outlooks, industry needs, readiness for change and service requirements from the City.
The 2024 Business Survey will help Economic Development:
- identify factors that influence business operations and growth.
- gauge local business growth, decline, or stagnation.
- determine business readiness for change and resiliency.
The City of Vaughan values the opinions of business owners and entrepreneurs, and the data contributes to understanding the perception and use of municipal business services and opportunities that will make Vaughan more competitive as a business investment location.
Q. Why does the City conduct the survey?
Understanding the perception and use of municipal services for business contributes to attracting and retaining high-quality, well-paying jobs across a broad range of sectors. Important feedback from the business community ensures residents can work and thrive where they live, promoting economic resilience.
Q. How is the survey conducted?
Ipsos is administering the business survey to approximately 350 businesses through a mixed-method approach of telephone interviews and mail-to-online surveys. Survey respondents are drawn from the York Region Employment Survey database from a variety of industries and sizes of businesses. Business owners, operators, executives or decision-makers and entrepreneurs can also participate in the online version of the survey (Link will be shared shortly) if they don’t receive the call. The online survey will be open until Thursday, Nov. 19.
Q. I already completed the 2024 Business Survey online and then received a call or mail from Ipsos to complete it. What should I do?
If you’ve participated in the online survey but received a call from a Ipsos representative, please inform the interviewer that you have already completed the survey online.
Q. How often is the survey conducted?
The Business Survey will be conducted every two years on a go-forward basis.
