Talent City Grant Recipient Profile – Fuerza Latina

Talent City Vaughan is a first-of-its-kind municipal workforce development initiative that supports purpose-driven training initiatives across Vaughan. The 2025 cohort of grant recipients offers a host of in-demand training programs for Vaughan residents and employees of Vaughan-based businesses – like Fuerza Latina‘s Future Ready: Communication & Digital Media Program!

The Program

The Future Ready Program: Communication & Digital Media Program, funded by Talent City Vaughan, delivered by Fuerza Latina, is a free, two-week hybrid training program designed to equip Vaughan youth, newcomers, women, Latino families and underrepresented groups with essential digital and communication skills needed for today’s job market. This program aims to provide accessible, skills-based programming that supports personal growth, community connection, and economic opportunity.

Running monthly from September 2 to December 20, 2025, each cohort attends four interactive sessions – online and in-person in Vaughan – open to unemployed or employed residents ages 16 to 55.

Over four interactive sessions – offered both online and in-person – participants develop professional communication and digital media skills including:

● Professional email writing & interpersonal skills

● Public speaking and leadership skills

● LinkedIn profile building and social media content creation

● Hands-on personal branding asset creation on Canva

● Industry guest speakers share real-world experience, career insights, and networking opportunities

 

Participants will receive a Certificate of Completion and gain practical tools to enhance job readiness, entrepreneurship, and career growth.

In addition, at the end of the training, participants will obtain:

● A Professional Communication Toolkit

● A branded LinkedIn profile and visual portfolio piece

● Soft skills for workplace success, including leadership and public speaking

 

Program Dates: September 1 – December 20, 2025

Number of Ideal Attendees: 20 total

Time Commitment: 4 sessions over 2 weeks (2 hours per session)

Target Group: Ages 16–55 in Vaughan, focusing on marginalized groups like immigrants, women, youth, residents with disabilities.

Delivery Format: Online via Zoom/Google Meet and in-person sessions.

Program Requirements: Basic computer skill level. Support materials will be provided as needed. No experience required.

Fuerza Latina is a Vaughan-based not-for-profit organization that has been serving the community since 2003. With a mission to empower youth, newcomers, women, and families, Fuerza Latina delivers accessible, skills-based programs that foster leadership, employment readiness, entrepreneurship, digital literacy, and civic engagement.

Their workforce development programs feature guest speakers from fields like digital media, freelancing, and creative entrepreneurship, bridging real-world experience with career readiness. These efforts support a sustainable local economy and a skilled workforce that reflects the diversity and dynamism of Vaughan.
