Blue Door Support Services is the largest emergency housing provider in York Region with a vision to ensure everyone has access to safe, affordable and supportive housing in Canada. With that vision, Blue Door’s mission is to enable housing stability by driving innovative housing, health and employment solutions that prevent and end homelessness.
Construct by Blue Door provides best-in-class training, on-the-job work experience and wraparound support to help vulnerable individuals secure long-term, well-paying careers in the skilled trades. Construct provides a solution to address two significant challenges, including (1) a growing demand for skilled employees in the construction industry. (2) The need for vulnerable low-income individuals to access low-barrier jobs and a higher income to achieve housing stability.
Blue Door and Construct’s partnership with Talent City Vaughan actively contributes to community workforce development, supporting Vaughan’s construction industry – one of the city’s largest industries today. Construct’s innovative training initiative meets the construction industry’s needs and enhances employment prospects, creating a ripple effect for the residents of Vaughan and enriching the wider workforce.
